The castle of Collalto
The castle of Collalto was built in 1110 by the will of Ensedisio I, heir of the dynasty that settled in 1000 with Rambaldo I.
Already expanded on the right of the Piave, the family of the counts of Treviso obtained from Ottone II also the lands on the left side of the river.
And it is exactly on the hills near the rivers Soligo and Piave that Ensedisio ordered the construction of the big castle.
Then the Counts of Treviso fell leaving place to the Collalto that enlarged their boarders till the lowland towards the sea.
The construction of the castle of San Salvatore is of this period that till 1500 acquired a lot of importance.
When Venice abandoned the sea of the mainland, the importance of the Collalto fell and Rambaldo of the Collalto left the feud to go in Germany founding the German branch of the family.
The castles became luxury residences during the First World War and suffered enormous damages caused by the bombings so for, becoming unusable, the castle of the Collalto was abandoned.
